A Free Home Exercise Program (HEP) Library for Physical Therapists

Protocol Archive gives you 213 video-guided home exercise protocols you can hand to patients in seconds — printable pages and QR codes, with videos from public health agencies and independent instructors. No per-seat license, no patient accounts, no paywall between your patient and their home program.

In the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or Canada? See home exercise programmes for physiotherapists, with A4 handouts.

New · free clinician portal

Build a home exercise program once, reuse it, and give it to patients with your name and clinic on it. Share any of our plans or handouts with a link or QR code, and see how many patients open them. No password and no patient data.

How it works

1

Find the protocol

Browse the exercise library by body region, or pick a full condition program — every page credits and links the original publisher of its video.

2

Hand it to your patient

Print the two-page handout, or generate a QR code on the provider tools page that opens the video-guided protocol on their phone.

3

They follow it at home

Patients get demonstration videos, sets and reps, form cues, and red-flag precautions — no app to install, no account to create, nothing to pay for.

Why PTs use Protocol Archive instead of paid HEP software

  • It’s actually free. No trial, no per-clinician subscription, no feature gates. Paid HEP platforms are excellent for custom program building — but when a standard home program is what the patient needs, this library covers it at zero cost.
  • Zero friction for the patient. The number one reason home programs fail is that patients never open them. Here there is no app download, no login, no password reset — a QR code or a printed page goes straight to a video-guided protocol.
  • Sources you can check. Every protocol names the publisher of its video and links to the original, with dosage, progressions, regressions, and red-flag precautions written out.
  • Condition programs, not just exercises. Phased plans for chronic low back pain, knee OA, sciatica, fall prevention and more — useful for discharge planning and flare-up self-management.

List your clinic, free

We are building a simple directory so patients using our exercise guides can find a physical therapist nearby. Founding listings are free for state-licensed physical therapy clinics in the US (and the UK). Results will never be ranked by payment, and any future fee would be flat, never per lead or per patient. Claim a free founding listing.

Common questions

Is it really free? What’s the catch?
Free for patients and clinicians. Protocol Archive is building toward a directory where practices can claim a listing — the exercise library itself stays free and open.
Can I use the handouts in my clinic?
Yes. The handouts are made to be printed and given to patients at the end of a visit. The videos stay on their publishers’ own channels.
Does this replace my documentation or EMR HEP tool?
No — it’s a patient-facing resource, not an EMR integration. Many clinicians document the prescribed protocol and hand the patient the QR code or printout.
Can I suggest a protocol you don’t have?
Yes — email hello@protocolarchive.com. The library grows based on what clinicians ask for.
