How we chose these listings. Every listing is free; nobody paid to appear, and order is not for sale. We started from open map data, then checked in October 2026 that each business’s website works and shows this location, and that each physical therapy and chiropractic clinic matches an active record in the federal NPI registry. Being listed is not a recommendation: check credentials, prices and insurance yourself. Own a business listed here? Email hello@protocolarchive.com and we will correct or remove your listing. July is the hottest month at Hartsfield-Jackson, with a normal high of 90.1°F and a normal low of 71.8°F (1991–2020 normals). Walk or run at dawn or after sunset, pick shaded paths, and carry water.30

January’s normal low is 35.6°F with a normal high of 54.0°F, so early mornings can be near freezing: wear layers and gloves you can shed. Winter months average roughly 4.5 inches of rain each, so a city indoor track is a useful backup.30

Physical therapists in Atlanta

Outpatient physical therapy clinics. Each one matched an active record in the federal NPI registry when we checked.

Can you see a physical therapist without a referral in Georgia? Yes: Georgia lets patients see a physical therapist without a referral, but after 21 days or eight visits from the start of the plan of care the therapist must have a referral from your physician or other licensed provider (exceptions include wellness/fitness care and certain recently diagnosed neuromuscular, developmental or chronic musculoskeletal conditions). The therapist must also meet extra training or experience requirements, such as a DPT plus two years of practice or five years of clinical experience, and must tell you in writing that a PT diagnosis is not a medical diagnosis and may not be covered by your insurer. Ask your plan (or Medicare) whether it needs a referral or a signed plan of care before you book.31

Frequently asked questions

Where can I walk on flat, paved paths near Atlanta?

The Silver Comet Trail is a flat, 12-ft-wide paved trail that starts in Cobb County, with restrooms along the way. Alpharetta’s Big Creek Greenway (9 mi, paved) and the 2-mile paved loop at Wills Park are both described as mostly flat. Inside the city, the paved BeltLine Eastside Trail and Piedmont Park’s 1.1-mile inner road are easy to reach by MARTA.

Is there a free parkrun in Atlanta?

Not one we could confirm. Northside Beltline parkrun (Bitsy Grant Tennis Center, 2125 Northside Dr NW) has a parkrun page, but we could not find recent results, so check parkrun.us for current status before you go. Free alternatives include Atlanta Track Club’s Tuesday Club Night and the Thursday BeltLine Run Club.

Do I need a referral to see a physical therapist in Georgia?

Not to start. Georgia allows direct access, but after 21 days or eight visits the therapist needs a referral from your doctor or other licensed provider, with some exceptions such as wellness care. Your insurer may have its own rules, so check your plan.

Are there free beginner-friendly group runs or walks in Atlanta?

Atlanta Track Club’s Club Night is free and open to anyone at any pace, Tuesdays at 6:30 pm at Piedmont Park’s Active Oval. The BeltLine Run Club offers a free 2- or 4-mile run/walk on Thursday evenings at rotating spots along the BeltLine, and walkers are welcome; check the BeltLine events page for the week’s location.
